I AM YOUNG

The Basque Circular Hub is a network of advanced circular economy centres promoted by Ihobe, the Public Environmental Management Agency of the Basque Government, with the aim of strengthening environmental sustainability within the Basque business ecosystem. Through the Hub, new initiatives are promoted to address the challenges of decarbonisation and the circular economy, in line with the European Union’s environmental commitments.

One of the Hub’s main priorities is the training of young people who want to specialise in circular economy—an essential market need that is not currently covered by formal education. The goal is to prepare future professionals so they can confidently face present and future environmental challenges, strengthening both the professional and academic ecosystem of the Basque Country.

The training processes combine theoretical and practical learning, including:

  • Specialised courses free of charge for students, recent graduates and job seekers, focused on topics such as ecodesign, life cycle assessment (LCA), environmental footprint calculation (product and corporate), environmental product declarations (EPD), environmental monitoring, or eco‑innovation in the value chain.
  • Internship programmes in companies, supervised by specialists with experience in sustainability and environmental innovation, facilitating job placement in sectors related to the circular economy.
  • Support for academic work: guidance and tools are offered for the preparation of bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral theses related to LCA, including specialised software and tutoring sessions.

The programmes are aimed at young people in their final year of studies or who have already completed their university education.
