EKODISEINATUZ 2026

The Basque Circular Hub prepares a new edition of the Ekodiseinatuz programme for 2026

Basque Circular Hub, the advanced circular economy services centre of the Basque Country managed by Ihobe, the Public Agency of the Basque Government, is currently working on the preparation of a new edition of the Ekodiseinatuz programme, which will take place throughout 2026.

Ekodiseinatuz is a programme that offers Basque companies the opportunity to host university students in internships, with the aim of developing projects related to ecodesign and environmental assessment with a life‑cycle approach, both from a product or service perspective and from an organisational perspective.

The objective of Ekodiseinatuz is to promote the development of circular economy projects in companies while fostering the practical training of new talent in the field. Participating companies will have the opportunity to collaborate with university students who, under the supervision of Ihobe, will develop environmental assessment projects with a life‑cycle and ecodesign approach for circularity. This includes the calculation and analysis of environmental metrics, ecodesign projects, development of environmental product declarations and environmental labelling, as well as the application of new requirements for more efficient material use.

For the 2026 edition, the Basque Circular Hub is currently defining the programme’s content, schedule and participation conditions, which will be published soon on the website. Interested companies will be able to learn in detail about the scope of the programme and assess their participation once the call is officially announced.

These are some tentative figures based on previous calls:

Costs for the company

Participating companies will need to cover a monthly stipend for the intern ranging from €300 to €1,250, depending on the level of dedication (between 20 and 40 hours per week) and the student’s university of origin. In addition, the company must pay the social security registration fee, estimated at €0.41 per effective day of internship. Participating companies may benefit from specialised technical monitoring provided by the Ihobe team during the first five months of the internship.

Workplace

The intern will carry out their activities in person at the company’s facilities. It is possible to establish up to four teleworking days per month, provided both parties agree.

Dates and duration

The internship will last five months, with the possibility of extension by mutual agreement, outside the Ekodiseinatuz programme.
