The Basque Circular Hub acts as the Circular Economy Observatory of the Basque Country. For several years, the Basque Circular Hub and its predecessor initiatives have been working on strategic environmental monitoring in collaboration with key stakeholders for Ihobe, such as companies in the Basque Ecodesign Center or priority sectors for environmental policy, aiming to filter and extract value from the large volume of available information.

Through a monitoring system, all alerts of interest related to the implementation of instruments and concepts linked to the Circular Economy are tracked, and based on these, monitoring reports and market trend analyses are produced.

The aim of these sector‑specific or individual monitoring reports (in the case of Basque Ecodesign Center companies) is to identify challenges, potential lines of work to address them, and business opportunities associated with new environmental drivers—both regulatory and planning‑related, as well as market drivers. In other words, monitoring reports have a forward‑looking, anticipatory approach.
